Professional Development for teachers

A key component to a successful 1 to 1 is having trained teachers.  We have spent summer hours, after school hours and PD days with a variety of training methods.  During the summer we offered classes in the use of the device and a couple of applications.  Teacher came only if they wanted to.  After the early start of school days we began offering "20 Minutes Trainings" after school.  Weekly emails listed what the training for the week contained and again teacher came only if they wanted…

1:1 Process has begun

We are about to complete our wireless infrastructure installation.  This was the most expensive piece for which the school had to find funding.  As a private school we went to parents and donations to pay for the one time venture.  It should be completed about Nov. 17 when the teacher laptops arrive on campus.  We are working on the image for those laptops to be completed by Dec. 17.  January 2, 2012 we will roll out laptops to our teachers as they experience the process of checking out an… Continue

    What to do now that I'm a member?

    If you are new to NING there are many things you can explore. The tabs at the top of the page, "Main," "Invite," "My Page," etc. will help you navigate the different pages of the NING.
    1. Set up your "My Page"
    You can change the layout, picture, etc.
    2. Introduce yourself
    3. Join a group
    Join a group(s) that fits your needs and expertise
    4. Forum
    Post a question of discussion topic for the whole group on the main page or one on a specific group page.
    5. Send a direct message to another group member
    a. public message - post a comment to them on their page
    b. Send private messages to other members - go to their page, click on the icon for "send message" in the left sidebar. Your inbox icon is located in your right sidebar. If you have a new message, it will show there.
    6. Watch or upload a video
    7. Create a blog to reflect on practices in your own classroom. Update it as often as you like.
